Never Known But Is the Knower is a book based on a lecture given by a french philosopher Michel Bitbol at the Institut für Raumexperimente, Berlin University of the Arts. The book is a collaboration between Michel Bitbol, who explores the concept of the blind spot in science, and Olafur Eliasson who created drawings that appear between the pages.
I designed the book using the “french fold” binding technique, where each page is folded and attached at the spine, with Olafur’s drawings hidden inside the pages. It’s printed on thin newsprint, allowing the drawings to softly show through and to echo the concept of the lecture - the blind spot. As Olafur describes it “it is a book inside a book”.
